There is a nine page history of the society written by J.M. Napier which focuses upon its early years and gives some genealogical information about its members. A three page account of the annual meeting at which Dr. R.F. Poole introduced the topic of discussion, 'The Farmer's part in the war effort' is also written by Napier.

Robert Franklin Poole, 1893-1958 was a noted plant pathologist and president of Clemson College from 1940-1958. A 1916 graduate of Clemson College, Poole received his M.S. and Ph. D. in plant pathology from Rutgers University. Poole was appointed associate professor and plant pathologist at North Carolina College in 1926. As president of Clemson from 1940-1958, he oversaw the de-militarization of the campus, the admission of women, and major changes in the physical plant of the campus. ...
